Waving Away

Picture
What a first week for Honks for Jason, and it’s only half over! Some highlights (and many pictures below):
  • “Jason’s World Tour” Week 1 began Monday, and we’ve had 9 waving events through the first four days. That’s more than 10 hours of waving!
  • The count so far: 1616 honks! That’s about one every 20 seconds. Our digital counter couldn’t keep up, so we came up with an old-fashioned way to tally all the honks.
Picture
  • In the next two weeks, there are another 18 waving events scheduled. Be sure to come by to honk or wave with us, as many folks are doing already.
  • Be sure to sign up for an event on Facebook if you can make it
  • Jason has brought a number of his peers and friends from St Joseph Home and elsewhere to some of our events, check out the pictures below.
  • All our outings were fantastic, but none could surpass the one sponsored by our new UPS Sharonville family–more on this in an upcoming blog, but your caring hearts filled ours on Tuesday! Sarah and Forest, you made this happen!
  • Super guest appearances on Tuesday by super supporter Bill Davis, president of the Teamsters Local 100, and a surprise drive-by truck procession from Arrow Truck Sales
  • Special thanks on Tuesday for the amazing, extensive time and excellent coverage of our UPS event by WLWT5 News (NBC). Reporter Miana Massey and her team spent well over an hour with us, and they came back the next morning at 5 AM–in the dark–to broadcast live!
  • Missed the 3 separate news segments yesterday? Check it all out here.
  • Thanks to your generosity, we have already raised nearly $4000 for St Joseph Home
  • Looking to contribute? Our fundraising site, where you can sponsor honks ($1/honk) is here.
  • We also have a TEXT to GIVE option for donations: Just text the word HONKS to 44321
  • Next week, our highlight events will be the Junk King Cincinnati parade (8/3 at 8 AM), the Blue Ash First Responders Regalia (8/3 at 2 PM), and the Sharonville drive-by car procession (8/7 at 4 PM)
  • More and more folks and businesses are reaching out to help. If you would like to host Jason and his friends at your place of business, please drop us a line at [email protected].

Latest appreciation goes to our many, many newest supporters, welcome to the Neighborhood!

Honks for Jason!

Howdy, Neighbors is proud and excited to announce our first campaign for 2021, Honks for Jason!
Picture
Honks for Jason is inspired by our son Jason’s love of waving to cars and people. The idea is simple–we will count each honk that Jason gets when cars drive by, and we will wave with joy in return. We hope to get to 10,000 honks in the next few weeks, and we think we can do it!

Starting on July 26th, we will be out at various locations in Blue Ash, Sharonville, and surrounding communities looking for your honks!

How can you get involved? There are lots of ways:

  • Find one of the locations and times on the “Jason World Tour” and stop by!
  • When you stop by, be sure to spend a few minutes waving with us
  • Spread the word by telling your family, friends, neighbors, and anyone that wants to be part of this cool event
  • Share our Facebook posts with your social media friends
  • Consider supporting us by “buying” a number of Honks. 100% of your gift goes to St Joseph Home to support people with complex disabilities.
  • Hook us up with local businesses–we will sit outside any safe place in the area with traffic out front
  • Don’t forget to honk!
