8/21/2025 0 Comments Supporting the community A big part of what we do around here at Howdy, Neighbors is to help support organizations who help local communities. That's only possible because neighbors like you are so generous with your time, ideas, enthusiasm, and financial contributions. Over the years, our events, the kindness of our neighbors, and funding matches from local foundations have together raised over $100,000! Perhaps even more importantly, it has also raised awareness for these terrific groups.
Here's more about who we support And here's how you can help our efforts To date, we have focused on organizations that provide support for your neighbors with disabilities, and to help ensure that activities are available regardless of ability. Going forward, we will also begin to include additional organizations who help strengthen local communities in other creative ways. The idea is to help nurture those who emulate the outpouring of love, trust, and enthusiasm that Jason and his friends so easily share with their neighbors. Stay tuned!

8/17/2025 2 Comments And in the beginning... Today we share with you our Howdy Neighbors creation myth...
...except that in this case, it is no myth, but instead a remarkable TRUE story about how a young boy developed a very special superpower: the power to transform his community by a simple wave of his hand. Well, that might be a bit of an exaggeration! But it is true that Jason brings out the best in almost everyone he meets. This is because he loves to share his enthusiasm and excitement for life. He does this best and most obviously by waving at people and cars as they pass by on the street. It has led to an outpouring of love that has strengthened our community and helped support a number of important local charities. But what's most remarkable is that everyone that Jason meets has their own special powers. So many of you have shared your love and enthusiasm for life just as readily as Jason has. From your acts of kindness, the stories you have shared, and the bonds of friendship you have inspired the world and strengthened our community immeasurably. Here's how it all began... Where were you 10 years ago today? Here's where we were: at (arguably) the world's greatest car rally. Organized by a neighbor named Jack Novak, who loved the waves he got from Jason as he drove by each day, and arranged by Dan Foltz, who convinced his buddies at the 1310 Car Club to come along for the ride, it was an incredible time. Led by a 3-car escort by Chief Noel of the Blue Ash Police Department, the nearly 30 exotic cars paraded by Jason and nearly 100 of his friends and neighbors. Highlights included a Ferrari, a Lamborghini, a $1.1M Porsche, and many of the "best cars on the lot" on loan from local car dealers. The outpouring of love and support was overwhelming, as was the generous collection of donations to support the cerebral palsy clinic at Cincinnati Children's Hospital. But perhaps best of all was the reaction to this video, shot as a last-minute thought as the cars passed by: The video quickly went viral in the online car enthusiast community, spawning over 1,000 comments, 14,000 likes, and over 1.4M views. The comments were so generous in spirit that they themselves brought a tear to the eye. A few of the responses: “You guys made this kids day, if not his year! Good on you and this is something the world needs to look at! Spread this! Make it viral! Get people involved! Make these kids happy! Make your self happy! Everyone benefits here!“ Organizer Dan summed up the day perfectly in his own blog post and with these words: “I’ve been reading through all the comments, and for the vast majority of them I can’t help but think that this….this is how it should be. No hatred or venom or you vs. me, he vs. she. Just compassion and caring for a young man and his family, and for those of us that were fortunate enough to participate in this amazing experience.“ Ten years later, it is still heartwarming to know that such compassion still glows within us. Sometimes it just takes a wave to bring it out. Thanks again to all the heroes that made this possible and boosted us on our journey.

The site includes all of the relevant content from our prior site, plus lots of new stuff about our organization, various ongoing and upcoming activities, and how you can help us build the community. Plus many, many pictures about all the fantastic memories we have made along the way! Over the upcoming weeks, we will highlight each of our new site features here on the blog. You may notice a few "Coming Soon" signs, which means that more great information is on the way. Keep checking back for new additions; we have a LOT waiting in the pipeline! And be sure to keep honking, everyone... 7/25/2025 0 Comments Plants for a Purpose--SOLD OUT!Our popular PLANTS FOR A PURPOSE returned on SATURDAY, July 5th, 2025! Thanks to so many of you, we raised nearly $1,000 (a new record!) and sold out all of our plants (for the first time!) All proceeds supported Sharonville's St Joseph Home for children and adults with disabilities. To date, with your help, Plants for a Purpose has raised nearly $3,500 for disability services. Special thanks to alReddy Cafe and the Reddy family for again supporting this great event! And Jason thanks his buddy Mr. Lee for yet another cruise in his vintage Mercedes convertible. Check out our video of Jason & friends at Mason Challenger Grand Opening Day Last Saturday, the new adaptive baseball fields at Makino Park in Mason celebrated a Grand Opening Ceremony for opening day! Jason and his teammates got to try out the new fields for their first game of the season. We also had a color guard, special ceremonies by players and key partners, and a ribbon cutting ceremony. Best of all, all the Reds and FC Cincinnati mascots got to come and watch the games throughout the day. What a thrill! 5/10/2024 0 Comments Leveling the Playing Field Tomorrow is opening day! After four years and $2.5 million dollars raised, the Adaptive Fields at Makino Park in Mason are opening for baseball! This was possible only through the dedication of the Mason Challenger League’s board, players, and families; the Mason Youth Organization; the City of Mason and the State of Ohio, and many local businesses. We are especially appreciative of all our Howdy Neighbors supporters who helped us to raise the funds to make this amazing project possible. Now ALL athletes, regardless of ability, can enjoy their summers playing baseball on these gorgeous fields, which offer a soft artificial turf easy for wheeled devices, easy access to all areas of the field, wide and accessible dugouts, and more. We invite you to visit tomorrow or any Saturday in May and June to cheer on Jason and his 158 friends in the Mason Challenger League! 10/17/2022 0 Comments You are invited! Our Honks for Jason 2022 campaign is coming to a close, so we are celebrating with YOU! This Thursday evening, we will be at our host Third Eye Brewing Company. The excitement includes:

 It’s been a while since we’ve posted here, and there is so much success to celebrate, thanks to all of you. We wrapped up our 2021 Honks for Jason campaign with astounding results. Jason and friends managed to log a total of 13,462 honks in all. More importantly, that resulted in us raising $23,375 for our 2021 charity, St Joseph Home! But wait, that’s not all! Because of all the visibility and success, the great Development folks at St Joseph were able to acquire a generous matching grant from the John A. Schroth Family Charitable Trust, and then ANOTHER matching grant from the Farmer Family Foundation! In total, we together raised nearly $100,000! This money is being put to great use–it is enough to purchase a brand new, wheelchair-accessible transport van for St Joseph Home residents and day program participants. This means that you will get to see Jason and friends out and about in the community a lot more. That’s all possible solely because of YOUR generous donations–so thank you again, we are so grateful for your generosity. Stay tuned for a lot more this summer–this is just the beginning!
